It used to be the case that people thought bigger was better, particularly in America. Not so, now. Everything has to be in miniature. Mobile phones have got smaller with each generation, as have digital cameras. The same thing is happening now with MP3 players and iPods. Just in case you hadn’t heard, the MP3 and the iPod are digital music recorders. You can download music from your computer and straight onto an MP3 or iPod. These small devices are capable of storing hundreds of your favorite tunes. As the MP3 player has got smaller and smaller – currently it is equivalent to the size of a woman’s earring – so the iPod is going the same way, first with the nano iPod and now with the Apple nano iPod. The Sony NW-HD5 20GB hard drive audio player is a solid competitor: It certainly has a leg up on its wheel-sporting white rival in the battery life department, and it has a couple of navigation features that should make Apple take note.
